Why you need a CV even if you‘re happy in your job!
This confuses a lot of people I speak to. You see, I’m a career coach, and I often work with clients who are actually quite happy in their current job.
So when people think about a career coach they immediately think that what I do is only relevant to people who are looking for a new job. Not true! I am here to help everyone even those already in a job but want to be ready incase some great opportunity comes along.
Whatever the reason, everyone has the same aim – to be able to move quickly and smoothly when an opportunity arises.
So at the very least, you should be doing the basics. Your CV, social media, and online brand should always be up-to-date with all of the latest information and ready to go – so that should a great opportunity arise, (and trust me they do), you are prepared and can react instantly. This means that your CV should be kept on your desktop, so that you can make amendments whenever necessary but at the very minimum, it should be updated and spruced up at least once a year.
Studies show that people that keep their CVs are up-to-date (and are not needing to pull an all-nighter to get it ready), are more likely to put it forward if an opportunity does arise. However, those that don’t keep their CVs updated, well it just doesn’t happen. You’ve got to find the time, if you let life get in the way, you will miss out.
We all know this can happen!
